Packt Publishing is pleased to announce that they have introduced subcategories to the finals of the 2011 Open Source Award. Subcategories for the Open Source CMS and Open Source JavaScript Libraries categories will launch on September 19th and will be open to the public vote, which lasts until October 31.
Following feedback, Packt has decided that the introduction of subcategories for the CMS and JavaScript Library categories allow the Awards to recognize a greater range of Open Source projects. This is a chance for all CMSes and JavaScript Libraries to stake a claim on being the best software for a particular trait or within a more focused group.

- Best CMS for Best Community
- Best CMS for Ease of Use

- Best JavaScript Library for plug-ins
- Best JavaScript Library for Effects and animations ability
- Best JavaScript Library Community
- Best JavaScript Library for Performance
Users are invited to vote for their favorite open source projects across all the applicable subcategories and maximize their chances of winning the prestigious Awards.Only public votes will be counted in the subcategories and the winners will be announced on November 7.
