Packt is pleased to announce the release of Developing Mobile Games with Moai SDK, written by Francisco Tufró. Using this concise guide, readers will learn how to develop games for multiple platforms with a single code base. The book will also show readers how to build two prototype games, including one with physics, and how to deploy their games to iOS devices.
About the author:
At age 14, Francisco Tufró hacked into a chat demo in Visual Basic and transformed it into a fully-featured RPG chat, with support for maps, character sheets, and dice rolls. Later in his life, he put together a development team and created The Insulines, an old-school graphic adventure about rock 'n' roll and diabetes. It was thanks to this game that he first came into contact with Moai SDK. Francisco fell so deeply in love with Moai SDK that he now works full-time on it with Zipline Games.
Moai is a development and deployment platform designed for the creation of mobile games on iOS and Android smartphones. The Moai platform consists of Moai SDK, an open source game engine, and Moai Cloud, a cloud platform that acts as a service(PaaS) for the hosting and deployment of game services. Moai developers use Lua, C++, and OpenGL to build mobile games that span both smartphones and cloud.
With the help of this book, readers can create their own game, release it to the Apple Store, and have enough tools to dig deeper into Moai SDK. Moai SDK is aimed at development professionals, but it has a great community that will help readers learn and be a part of it. To learn more about the book, please visit the Packt book page.
