About the Authors:

Michael Fontanini is a self-taught programmer with some college education under his belt as well. He first got into programming when he was only a kid. Over the years, he has advanced his programming skills. With a passion for video games, he has spent lots of time as a recreational game programmer and learned much along the way. He is glad to have the chance to share this knowledge with readers and help them get started with game programming and SlimDX.

SlimDX is a free open source framework that enables developers to easily build DirectX applications using .NET technologies such as C#, VB.NET, and IronPython. It is designed to be an efficient, simple, and a lean wrapper that fully encompasses all of Microsoft's gaming and multimedia technologies and exposes them to managed code.

Game Development with SlimDX takes readers through some of the most important areas of game design, such as handling user input, 2D graphics, and adding sound and music to games. Readers will learn the advanced topic of 3D graphics, which will get them started in making their own games. It will guide them in working with 2D game worlds and animated 2D characters by developing a 2D tile based game world with a goofy, animated robot character for the player to control, and other demos.

Game designers or game developers with a passion for video games and a desire to create them from scratch will find that this book is useful. To know more about the book, please visit the book's page.
