Sarath Lakshman is a software engineer working in the ZCloud engineering group at Zynga, India. He is a GNU/Linux enthusiast, hactivist of free and open source software, and developer of SLYNUX (2005).

Starting with the basics of the shell, the reader will learn simple commands and how to use them to perform operations on different kinds of files. The book then goes on to explain text processing and web interaction, and then concludes with backups, monitoring, and other sysadmin tasks.
