Packt Publishing is pleased to announce that ImpressCMS has won the Most Promising Open Source CMS Category in the 2009 Open Source CMS Award. While ImpressCMS took first place in this category, Pixie and Pligg weren’t far behind and settled for a tie in the first runner up spot.
ImpressCMS has featured in the top three in this category for the second time in a row, and has lived up to its reputation this year by winning the top spot. Steve Kenow, the spokesperson for ImpressCMS, emphasized the importance of community support for this Award and said that, “as an open source project, we are driven by our community and they are largely responsible for our success.” Kenow went on to say: “after being a runner up in last year's award, we set about living up to the reputation of being a most promising CMS. Now, we are even more determined to deliver on our promises and become a world class CMS of choice.”
Pixie and Pligg, on the other hand, featured in this category for the first time and managed to impress a lot of judges with their quality and support. Nathan Gervais, one of the judges for this category said for Pligg, “Even though this is a specialized type of CMS it’s polished, has an active community and works well at what it does.”
With this announcement, the 2009 Open Source CMS Award has two more categories left for which results will be announced later this week:
- Hall of Fame: winner to be announced on November 12, 2009
- Best Overall Open Source CMS: winner to be announced on November 13, 2009
