It is optimized for datasets ranging from a few hundred gigabytes to a petabyte or more, and costs less than $1,000 per terabyte per year, a tenth of the cost of most traditional data warehousing solutions.

Getting Started With Amazon Redshift will show readers how to optimize their own Redshift cluster, connecting third party tools and software to their Redshift cluster, loading data using Redshift's copy tools, and managing data files and queries through the implementation of Workload Management. Readers will also discover the underlying architecture, learning everything from a detailed view of compression, to column store block-level storage. The book also explains how to resize a cluster and use Redshift scalability to expand and grow with ease as data storage needs increase. Technical staff will get everything they need from this book to implement their own solutions with Amazon Redshift, while CIOs, enterprise architects, and developers will benefit from understanding what their technical staff are working on.
