About the Authors:

Matt Smith : Specializing in interactive multimedia e-learning and web applications, Matt is currently a senior lecturer in computing at the Institute of Technology in Blanchardstown, Dublin, Ireland and has also been lecturing in programming, artificial intelligence, web development and interactive multimedia for almost 20 years.

Chico Queiroz : A multimedia designer from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Chico is currently a Digital Designer at the Computer Graphics Technology Group (TecGraf), a lab within the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), where he uses Unity to develop interactive presentations and concept prototypes for interactive visualization software.

Unity is a cross-platform game engine used to develop video games for web plugins, desktop platforms, consoles, and mobile devices. Unity is primarily used to create mobile and web games, but can also deploy games to consoles or the PC. The game engine was developed in C/C++, and is able to support code written in C#, JavaScript, or Boo.

Unity 4.x Cookbook is a comprehensive exercise in game development covering audio, cameras, images, materials, animations, GUIs, external resources, devices, directional, artificial intelligence character control, performance optimization, and much more to get readers quickly up and running with Unity.
