About the Author:

Simone Scarduzio is a backend software engineer at MPme, a mobile music start-up based in London. His current quest is to make the MPme music search and recommendation engine as feature-rich and snappy as possible. He has been involved in the Vert.x project since October 2012. Before MPme, he lived in Finland for three years, where he cut his teeth as a software developer working on distributed mobile message-processing systems at Mavenir, for customers such as Vodafone, Telefonica, Airtel, Idea, and T-Mobile.

Vert.x is a lightweight, high performance application platform for the JVM that's designed for modern mobile, web, and enterprise applications. It is a polyglot event-driven application framework.

Instant Vert.x gives readers an overview of the advantages of asynchronous programming, especially the Vert.x concurrency model. Through clear, step-by-step examples, readers will learn how to properly set up their environment with all the necessary tools to get them going with the authentic JVM-polyglot experience using Vert.x. After showing readers basic examples in JavaScript, Ruby, Python, Groovy, and Java, the book digs deeper into hands-on tasks using JavaScript.

With Instant Vert.x, readers will learn everything they need to know to become independent web application developers, ready to create real-world web applications in no time.

This book is great for developers new to asynchronous programming. Many of the same basic concepts of Node.js can be reused.
