Packt is pleased to announce the release of its first ever video course on OpenCV, OpenCV Computer Vision Application Programming Video, featuring practical and screencast-based tutorials designed for novice or expert C++ programmers who are interested in developing computer vision applications using the OpenCV library. The duration of the video course is 2 hours and 27 minutes and it is competitively priced at $20.99.

About the Author :

Sebastian Montabone: Currently a software consultant and entrepreneur, Sebastian is a computer engineer with a Master of Science degree in computer vision. He has also created and taught a course about the development of applications for mobile phones, and has been recognized as a Nokia developer champion. If one could summarize all of his areas of interest in a single concept, it would be ubiquitous computing.

OpenCV is a library of programming functions mainly aimed at real-time computer vision. It is free to use under open source and the library is cross-platform. It focuses mainly on real-time image processing. If the library finds Intel's Integrated Performance Primitives on the system, it will use these proprietary optimized routines to accelerate itself.

OpenCV Computer Vision Application Programming covers not only all the essential areas of computer vision, such as installing it on Linux and Windows, but it also shows readers how to develop OpenCV using the recommended C++ interface, as well as an introduction to the Python and C interfaces.

This course goes into detail on some advanced topics and highlights the various techniques to peform segment objects in images using grabcut and watershed, clustering data, and spot interesting points in the image. Furthermore, readers will learn how to merge different images into a single panorama using the technique called panorama stitching, as well as detect common objects in images, such as faces, eyes, or people.
