November 2013 | Open Source

Packt is pleased to announce the release of its new book Application Testing with Capybara, a book aimed at developers and testers who will learn how to test their applications using Capybara and its compatible drivers, such as Selenium-Webdriver and Rack-Test. This book is also available in all the popular formats including Amazon, Kindle, e-pub and PDF.

About the Author:

Matthew Robbins: Having worked extensively with the BBC developing test automation frameworks and tools across their web platform, Matthew is an experienced developer in test automation and continues to work in the media industry for other high-profile broadcasters. He has spent the last five years immersed in developing robust test automation frameworks using open source tools.

Integration testing is the phase in software testing where individual software modules are combined and tested as a group. It occurs after unit testing and before validation testing. The purpose of integration testing is to verify functional, performance, and reliability requirements placed on major design items.

Application Testing with Capybara teaches readers about all of the essential areas of Capybara, such as installing and configuring Capybara, testing scenarios using Capybara and Cucumber, exploiting Capybara’s API for interacting with web pages, and employing Capybara to test Rack applications implemented using Rails or Sinatra.

Developers will also discover exciting new features highlighted in the book that will not only help them handle asynchronous JavaScript, but also test black box components such as Flash or HTML5 Canvas, Audio, and Video.

Application Testing with Capybara covers the following topics:

Chapter 1: Your First Scenario with Capybara

Chapter 2: Mastering the API

Chapter 3: Testing Rails and Sinatra Applications

Chapter 4: Dealing with Ajax, JavaScript, and Flash

Chapter 5: Ninja Topics

Packt Publishing has also released other titles on application testing, including:
