Packt is proud to announce the release of its latest publication, Google Apps Script for Beginners by Serge Gabet. This book is a step-by-step, example-oriented guide with a focus on providing the practical skills necessary to develop and customize apps with Google Apps Script. The book is 160 pages long and is priced at $29.99, while the eBook is $14.39.

About the author:

Serge Gabet has spent a large part of his life manufacturing sound equipment for professional audio recording. Using 8-bit microcontrollers and analog electronics did not lead him to JavaScript, but his curiosity and the need to simplify some day-to-day tasks ignited his desire to explore the language. After a few months of trial and error, he began to use his new skills to help others on the Google Apps Script forum and quickly became a Google Top Contributor. He has now developed enough expertise to use Google Apps Script in many aspects of his life. Presently, he works for a school in Belgium, and a great part of this job is to create and maintain all the IT tools they use.

Google Apps Script is a JavaScript-based programming language that works on the cloud and is 100% free to use. It provides all the tools necessary for Google services to work. Users can easily transfer any data from one service to another, save their important e-mails as files, save and share files with anybody, and even build their own website. It’s a great way of allowing people with minimal technical knowledge to create great solutions for their company.

Google Apps Script for Beginners is a practical, hands-on guide presented and explained with working examples to help readers get started with Google Apps Script. With this book, readers will be able to create custom functions in their spreadsheets, design their own forms, filter their e-mails, and publish web applications that they can use every day.

The book covers everything from basic spreadsheet functionality and customization to fully automated workflows; all of this almost seamlessly and without complications. Readers will learn how to filter their e-mails, create their forms, calculate all sorts of parameters, and be able to share just about anything that can be shared; all of this with the power of Google Apps Script at their fingertips.
