About the Author:

Ivan Idris: Ivan is a Java Developer, Data Warehouse Developer, and QA Analyst, and his main professional interests include Business Intelligence, Big Data, and Cloud Computing. He also enjoys writing clean, testable code and interesting technical articles. Ivan has previously authored two other books published by Packt: NumPy 1.5 Beginner's Guide and NumPy Cookbook.

Pygame is a cross-platform set of Python modules designed for writing video games. It includes computer graphics and sound libraries designed to be used with the Python programming language. It is also built over the Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL) library, with the intention of allowing real-time computer game development without the low-level mechanics of the C programming language and its derivatives.

Instant Pygame for Python Game Development How-to not only covers all the essential areas of Pygame, such as Installing and preparing the basic setup to get started on various operating systems like Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows, but also helps the reader to create visually spectacular and thrilling games with just a few clicks.

This book lays emphasis on some advanced topics and highlights the various techniques of creating a sample game, explaining the features of drawing, animating, using fonts and Matplotlib, creating excellent sound effects, and using music with Pygame.
