About the Author:

Eric Pimpler has 20 years of experience and deals with implementing and teaching GIS solutions using ESRI, Google Earth/Maps, Open Source technology. Currently he focuses on ArcGIS scripting with Python, development of custom ArcGIS Server web and mobile applications using JavaScript. Eric is also the owner and founder of GeoSpatial Training Services.

Written in a cookbook format filled with over 75 recipes, this book will teach GIS professionals to use the Python programming language with ArcGIS Desktop to automate geoprocessing tasks, manage map documents and layers, find and fix broken data links and much more. Users will be able to create custom geoprocessing tools and schedule the geoprocessing scripts to run after hours.

Programming ArcGIS 10.1 with Python Cookbook teaches the reader to update layer properties and symbology, and automate map production, printing, and the creation of PDF map books. They will be able to create new feature classes or tables and add records, as well as edit feature classes and tables.
