Packt is pleased to announce the release of jQuery UI Cookbook, a practical collection of recipes which provide the reader with clear and step-by-step instructions designed to help the reader harness the powerful UI framework in jQuery. The book is out now and available from Packt in print and in all popular eBook formats. The print book comes in at over 290 pages and is competitively priced at $49.99, whilst the eBook and Kindle versions are available for $25.49.

About the Author:

Adam Boduch has spent the last several years developing user interfaces for large-scale software systems. Having started out as a backend Python developer, he was lured to the frontend by tools like jQuery UI. Adam is passionate about readable code and writes extensively about jQuery UI widgets. He is also the author of jQuery UI Themes Beginner's Guide, which was also published by Packt Publishing.

jQuery UI is a JavaScript library that provides abstractions for low-level interaction and animation, advanced effects, and high-level widgets that can be used to build interactive web applications.

jQuery UI Cookbook provides readers with practical recipes featuring in-depth coverage of every widget in the framework, including how to address limitations that impact everyday development activities with widgets. The book enables developers to get a better idea of the big picture – how the framework is composed, how the widgets relate to one another, and how to build on those patterns.

jQuery UI Cookbook teaches developers how to apply a variety of effects to the menu widget and start interactions between the dialog widget and the API data using deferred objects. The book also shows developers how to create button widgets that can fill the width of their containing element, making the layout more consistent.

Some of the topics covered in this book are:

Chapter 1: Creating Accordions

Chapter 2: Including Autocompletes

Chapter 3: Crafting Buttons

Chapter 4: Developing Datepickers

Chapter 5: Adding Dialogs

Chapter 6: Making Menus

Chapter 7: Progress Bars

Chapter 8: Using Sliders

Chapter 9: Using Spinners

Chapter 10: Using Tabs

Chapter 11: Using Tooltips

Chapter 12: Widgets and More

Packt Publishing have also released some other books on jQuery UI:

1. Instant jQuery UI Starter

2. jQuery Hotshot

3. Instant jQuery Drag-and-Drop Grids How-to
