About the author:

Remo Laubacher started working with computers at a young age, and after various computer-related projects, he decided to focus on ERP and Oracle development. After completing his BSc in Business Administration, Remo became a partner at Ortic, his ERP and Oracle business, as well as a partner at Mesch Web Consulting and Design GmbH. At Mesch—where he's responsible for all development-related topics—he discovered concrete5 as the perfect tool for their web-related projects, and he has since become a key member of the concrete5 community.

Concrete5 is an open source content management system (CMS) for publishing content on the Internet and intranets. concrete5 was designed for ease of use, for users with a minimum amount of technical skills. It enables users to edit website content directly from the web page. concrete5 also provides version management for every web page, and it allows users to edit images through an embedded editor on each page.

Concrete5 Beginner's Guide (2nd Edition) will show the reader how to create new blocks from scratch, and will teach the reader how to embed new content elements in concrete5 websites using HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript. The book also discusses how to wrap everything in a package for the easy handling and distribution of add-ons, how to install and set up a concrete5 website, and how to build block templates to change the output of blocks to suit the readers needs.

The book also covers the following aspects:

- How to turn the slideshow block into a gallery

- How to add a new dashboard page

- How to create new blocks from scratch

- How to put different elements into a package for easy handling and distribution
