As you’ve already seen in this blog, a key reason for the launch of these brands is to boost our ability to specialize, and this is pertinent not only to our books, but also to our interactions with customers and readers.
You may have noticed on Monday that certain (even newer) additions were made to our new website. A dropdown list now appears under the “Books” link in the navigation bar at the top of the page, helping to identify Enterprise and Open Source books more easily, while certain books’ web pages have been branded as Packt Enterprise or Packt Open Source.
A “hub” for each brand, containing book titles, articles, and news from each brand is also on its way in the coming weeks, allowing those of you who want to focus on the books of a single brand to do just this. In the slightly longer term, we will be looking at running separate social media accounts and RSS feeds for each brand.
While there is this talk of the brand launch though, and of each brand specializing on certain areas, it is still important to bear in mind that both of these brands are part of Packt .This was mentioned in the branding post with reference to the new logos, and is just as pertinent here. While some of you may want to focus on one area of our produce, others will have interests which cross our brands and series.
Accordingly, while this brand launch may represent something of a delineation of the various focuses of our books and content, it is by no means a separation. Ultimately, we are Packt Publishing, and our new brands are there to help bring the aims of our books into sharper relief, rather than to create a division.
