Marketing Your Book
 At Packt we will promote your book directly to its target audience online by investing heavily in online marketing and promotion. By avoiding the costs of managing a general physical retail channel in favor of the specialist online channels, we are able to spend up to 20% of our revenues per book on promotion. You will have a dedicated marketing team with experience publicizing technical books online working hard to look after your book once it has been published. A large proportion of Packt's books are sold direct and online. Therefore, the marketing team focuses on developing an online presence for our books with the intention of driving customers to points of purchase. Any inputs or references from you for marketing the book are welcome!

The Process
As soon as a book is announced on the website, a press release is distributed through online agencies and on PacktPub.com. This then gets picked up by Bloggers, news sites, and more importantly it gets indexed by search engines, improving the books performance in result pages. In order to add to the books success in search engines, a Google AdWord and advertising in the Yahoo search engines are taken out.

The Online Marketing team then begin to research relevant communities, identifying appropriate websites, individuals, and forums to promote the book. Copies are sent out for influential people to review and publicize on websites, Blogs, and Amazon for example.

The marketing team also work closely with authors to help them promote the book and themselves as authors. This includes giving authors advice on marketing their books, as well as organizing interviews and articles to be published on PacktPub.com as well as third-party websites.
