Packt has released a new book, LWUIT 1.1 for Java ME developers, that helps Java ME developers use and extend Java library with custom-built classes. Written by Biswajit Sarkar, this book helps readers develop a Device Independent User Interface with a wide range of LWUIT components.

LWUIT, the Light Weight User Interface Toolkit, is a UI library that offers advanced User Interface capabilities and a clean API that is inspired by Swing. The LWUIT library contains tools that make the user interface applications consistent and obtains visual gloss on interface properties. Everything is customizable and extensible in LWUIT, with its source and binary freely accessible for individual or commercial use. So if there is a missing component, users can create their own feature and plug it in their code.

Java ME developers will learn to create and customize the way common components appear on screen, add user interface elements and style them, assemble sophisticated interfaces using containers, labels, and lists. The book presents the underlying structural features of LWUIT that are important for skillful use of the API. It will help users organize the interface using layout managers and also add animations and transitions to their applications.

Readers will learn to design themes for visual coherence, use painters, and create resources with the LWUIT Designer. They will also learn to build custom components by extending Component class and debug applications using the Log class. Users will make applications stand out with dazzling graphics that look and behave in the same manner on different mobile devices with this book.

With easy step-by-step instructions this book is ideal for all Java ME developers. This book is out now and is available from Packt. For more information, please visit http://www.packtpub.com/lwuit-1-1-for-java-me-developers/book
