Packt Publishing is pleased to announce the finalists of the 2009 Open Source CMS Award. This announcement signals the start of the next stage where the finalists are now open to public vote, which lasts until October 30.
The finalists, listed in alphabetical order across all the categories, are as follows:

- MODx
- SilverStripe
- Wordpress
- XOOPS
- Hall of Fame (This category did not feature in the nominations phase as it’s dedicated to those CMSes who’ve won the previous years)
- Drupal
- Joomla!
- Manhali
- ImpressCMS
- Pligg
- Pixie
- Redaxscript
- Drupal
- Joomla!
- MODx
- TypoLight
- Wordpress
- DotNetNuke
- dotCMS
- Mojo Portal
- Plone
- WebGUI
Users are invited to vote for their favorite CMS across all the applicable categories and maximize their chances of winning their share of $24,000. Public votes will be combined with ratings from a panel of Judges with the winners announced on November 9. Packt is giving away an 8GB iPod Touch to three lucky winners chosen randomly from the voting stage. Every individual who participates in a short Open Source CMS Award survey will automatically enter the draw to win the iPod.
Apart from these categories, users are also invited to submit their votes for the Joomla! and the Drupal Award, which are part of the Hall of Fame category. For these Awards, representatives from Joomla! and Drupal have nominated five themes and extensions/modules, which are open to public vote as the best themes and extensions/modules for their respective projects.
